Victoria Falls - a miracle of nature
“A view so beautiful that must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight:” are the words of David Livingstone, the first European to reach the Falls in 1855 and named them in honor of Queen Victoria, the then-reigning monarch. Victoria Falls is located on the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia. It is worth seeing this impressive natural wonder on both sides and during a helicopter flight. There are many other attractions in the area. You can watch hippos up close during a cruise on the Zambezi River, bungee jump from the bridge on the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia, or go swimming in Devil's Pool, right at the edge of the Waterfalls
When going on safari in Zambia, it is worth visiting several parks. Each of them offers an unforgettable experience. Go on a walking safari in Luangwa National Park, famous for its abundance of wildlife, including lions, leopards, hippos and various species of antelope. The park is also known for its night safaris, where you can see predators in action. In Lower Zambezi National Park you will experience, in addition to the traditional 4x4 safari, also a water one. You can meet there, among others: elephants, hippos and crocodiles. Kafue National Park offers a variety of landscapes, from savannas to wetlands, with an abundance of wildlife, and the Liuwa Plain is home to one of the largest hyena populations in Africa.
Zimbabwe is another great country for wildlife lovers. Hide away in one of the luxurious lodges in Hwange National Park, one of Africa's most famous safari destinations. This park is famous for its huge population of elephants, lions, leopards, buffalos, giraffes and antelopes. Matobo National Park offers beautiful rocky landscapes where you can see numerous white rhinos, and in addition to wild animals, discover rock paintings and ancient places of worship. Want to see elephants standing on their hind legs with their trunks high in the air in a picturesque setting? Visit Park Mana Pools. This is one of the few places in the world where this phenomenon takes place.
Zambia and Zimbabwe when to go?
When planning a trip to Victoria Falls, it is worth taking into consideration the water level on the Zambezi River, which affects the visibility and impressive effect of the Falls. The most popular period for safaris in Zambia and Zimbabwe is the dry months from May to September. From October to April, due to heavy rainfall, nature is greener. This is the time of birth of young animals, which can be an interesting aspect of the safari.
